Our Story

How it all started...

1910-Our church first gathered on Flower St., known as Bakersfield Mennonite Brethren Church. The top picture shows the Jail Ministry Team.
1912-Moved to the corner of Monterey & Miller after purchasing the Baker St. Library building (see picture below).
1957-Moved to our current location where we built a new church campus.
1967-Readyland Preschool was born with 3 teachers & 8 students.
1971-Heritage Academy began for Kindergarten students with 2 staff & 19 students.
1978-Built & supported Laurelglen Bible Church to share the good news of Christ with that area of Bakersfield.
1984-Changed our church name to Heritage Bible Church.
1998-Acquired property for our Heritage Junior High School students which also supported 2 churches; Iglesia Cristiana Vida Nueva & Heritage Filipino Ministry.
2010-Celebrated our 100 year anniversary.
Many Bakersfield residents are a product of this rich history. Perhaps you, your children or grandchildren grew up on our campus. We are delighted that God has used this church & school to enhance our wonderful community of Bakersfield.

Expanding the vision...

Working with City Serve during a "Love Your Neighborhood" event, we passed out boxes of food, gave free haircuts & prayed with many people from the nearby neighborhood.
